The Dolphins is a Malayalam movie written and directed by Arun Kumar Aravind. It stars Jayaram, Bhavana and Padmapriya and also features Shanthi Krishna in a cameo role. It was shot in 3 years and was completed 4 months before release date. The film released worldwide on 1 April 2015 except for Tamil Nadu and Kerala where it released on 2 April 2015; while the 3 major regions of India saw its complete screening on 5 May 2015, two days after its official worldwide release date. It opened at 45th place at the box office . The worldwide gross came up to 775 million (US$9 million). The Movie got mixed reviews from critics. The movie received mostly positive reviews from the critics. "Rediff.com" rated it 3 out of 5 saying, "The theme of the film is intelligent, and so is the screenplay which manages to maintain the flow of a story with some riveting moments." Shankar Vellagiri gave 3/5 stars saying, "Aravind has done very well for this film boosted by his directorial prowess and sure-to-be phenomenal music. The cast has their share of good performances also. " "The Times of India" gave 3 stars out of 5 and wrote, "The movie struggles to hold your attention despite the best efforts of Jayaram."
